I used to be the kind of person that would always try to make New Year's Resolutions, only to end up finding myself disappointed through no one's fault but my own. So, for the past few years I've decided to stop trying to make "resolutions." Rather, I' wanted to set goals for myself to enjoy my life, get the most out of what I have, and overall become a happier and healthier person. When I think about it that way, I'm more excited to start the year, to see what lies ahead, and to achieve more for myself which in turn makes me feel pretty excited about life. Here are just a few things I want to strive for in 2015.
1. Spend more time finding ways (and doing things) to make myself a healthier person.
So far, my plans include taking up yoga, trying the bar method, throwing some spin classes in here and there, and potentially trying out pilates. If anyone wants to join, exercise classes are always more fun when you're doing them with a friend!
2. Dedicate myself to living by the mantra "your body is a temple."
It really is true that what you put into your body directly affects what you get out of it, and quite frankly, the fact that I'm turning 26 this year makes me want to start appreciating my body more for the amazing things it's capable of rather than limiting its full potential.
3. Spend more time with friends and family.
Over the past few years due to an insanely jam-packed school and work schedule, I barely made time for anyone but myself, school, and Dave (which is crazy to think I had to make time for him, since we live together). But now that I'm done school I feel like I need to take the time to remember and appreciate those around me who make each day better. So, friends, family, if you're reading this - I haven't forgotten you and I'm so damn grateful you haven't left my side over the past few years.
4. Learn. All the time.
Yeah, I may be done school, but I am definitely not done being a student by any means. This kind of goes hand in hand with my number 1 topic. Learning only enriches us and makes us a better, happier, and more healthy version of ourselves. I plan on getting back into photography this year as well big time and expanding and evolving with that in ways I haven't tried before. I may have graduated with a diploma in it, but there is always something to learn. Same goes for nursing.
What are some things you want to achieve in 2015? I'd love to know!
